Bruce Castle Museum Restoration Funding

Fantastic news this week from Bruce Castle Museum & Archive – they’ve been awarded £588,900 by the Arts Council England (ACE) MEND Fund, part of the government’s Cultural Investment Fund. This brings the total invested in the project to restore the East Wing of the Castle to over £1.5 million, with the rest of the funds being provided by Haringey Council.

This is amazing and exciting news for Bruce Castle. Even more so as the MEND Fund, created specifically to support local authority museums accredited with ACE, was highly competitive with applications from all over the country.

The restoration of the East Wing of the Castle, includes transforming an 18th century room into a new public space for exhibitions and use, supporting us in enhancing public access to Bruce Castle’s unique and fascinating archives and collections. It combines works addressing and stabilising structural issues, making fire protection upgrades for the whole building, repairing historic fabric, as well as improving accessibility.
