The Hillcrest Estate by Ray Rogers

The HHS October talk concerns the post-war housing development in Highgate called the Hillcrest Estate, designed by local resident and architect Sir Thomas Bennett for Hornsey Borough Council.

Ray will describe the design and creation of the estate, the critical response at the time and attempts an evaluation of its architectural and social relevance today.

About the Speaker

Ray, the HHS Conservation Officer, is a conservation and historic buildings specialist with a long-standing interest in housing policy and design. This is rooted in his early experience of designing council housing in a London borough architects’ department.
