Hornsey High Street: A History in Four Maps with Ray Rogers
26th November 2026 @ 7:00 pm

Hornsey High Street is the historic heart of Hornsey village, the centre of the ancient parish of Hornsey that includes part of Highgate, Muswell Hill and Stroud Green. The village has been overshadowed by the later growth of Crouch End and Muswell Hill at the end of the nineteenth century but Hornsey’s story goes back well before that time.
This talk explores and illustrates the development of Hornsey High Street tracing its changing character through its buildings and the lives of some of the interesting and notable people associated with its history by focussing on four maps, each of which reflect significant social and economic changes in the society of the time.
